We were recently approached by a client whose portfolio of wealth was all offshore and wanted to purchase a property at over £2m in Central London. He didn't believe he could obtain a mortgage and so was willing to pay cash, despite the tax burden of transferring find to the UK.
The client only had offshore income, was not required to UK tax yet due to residency status and wanted the property ownership to be in the name of his 3 children, who are all based outside the UK. Furthermore, he wanted interest only to age 75.
Outcome
Our securing the funds he needed, and at a competitive rate, has saved the client hundreds of thousands of pounds in tax, allowing that money to be used for other investments.
